The following skills, abilities, experience, education and training are required elements for you to pursue a career with the Bathurst Fire Department:


Education and Experience:

  • Secondary level diploma or equivalent;
  • Ability to communicate functionally in both official languages;
  • Firefighting certificate – Level I and II (NFPA 1001);
  • Valid driver's license, with a Class 5E with airbrake endorsement, and a driving abstract demonstrating responsible and safe driving behavior;
  • Medical First Responder or equivalent 

Preferred candidates would possess one or more of the following:

  • NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Technician
  • NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator – Pumper
  • NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator – Aerial
  • Auto Extrication
