Charges laid
On May 26, 2025, the Bathurst Police Force received a complaint involving one of its members alleging a possible criminal offence.
On May 27th, 2025, Bathurst Police Force notified the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT), which assumed responsibility for the investigation as the matter fell within its mandate.
The officer was subsequently placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Following the conclusion of this investigation, on April 7th 2026, Constable Nathan Pitre has been charged in Provincial Court with the following criminal charges:
- Criminal harassment
- Harassment by telecommunication
- Breach of trust
- Unlawfully in a dwelling
- Uttering threats
As this matter is now before the courts, we will not be providing any further details or commenting on this matter.
The Bathurst Police Force reaffirms its commitment to integrity and transparency and continues to apply rigorous mechanisms whenever serious allegations involve one of its members.
SIRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest that may have arisen from the actions of a police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
