As we reach ten years since the tragic accident that would take the lives of eight people on January 12th 2008, changing the lives of many forever, the City of Bathurst informs the population of its efforts to forever remember the Boys in Red. At the public meeting of December 18th 2017, Bathurst City Council unanimously passed a motion declaring January 12th as a day of mourning and will recognize this tragic day by henceforth having City infrastructure flags at half-mast every year on this date. The Boys in Red Memorial Park, located at the corner of King Avenue and St Patrick Street, is accessible for residents who wish to pay their respects and to have a moment of reflection. Residents are invited to do so beginning Thursday January 11th in the evening through Friday January 12th in the evening. The members of Bathurst City Council, management and staff, joins the community in offering their thoughts and prayers to the families and recognizing all first responders of this tragic event.
