Update regarding water usage in the City of Bathurst
  August 26, 2025

The water usage advisory remains in effect, and we want to provide clearer guidance to help residents make informed choices while we wait for more rain.

This advisory is currently a precautionary measure — you can continue with most of your normal daily activities and everyday water needs.

At the moment, we simply ask that everyone stay mindful of conservation during this period of low precipitation:

  • If you water your lawn, please do so only between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. to reduce evaporation.
  • Washing your vehicle is OK — just try to conserve and wash when needed, not out of habit.
  • Take small steps like turning off taps when not in use, running full loads in washers and dishwashers, keeping showers shorter, and fixing any leaks promptly.

Together, these simple efforts help ensure a reliable water supply for all while preventing the need for tighter restrictions.

Thanks to recent community-wide cooperation, flows at our water treatment plant have stabilized. We continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates if the situation changes. Please note that extended periods of drought or added pressure on the system may require us to adjust these guidelines in the future.
