Upcoming project: Chaleur Street Reconstruction
The City of Bathurst informs all residents and commuters of the upcoming reconstruction of Chaleur Street, beginning in the next few days and continuing until approximately November 2025.
Project Overview
This major reconstruction project includes:
- Replacement of water and sewer mains
- Street resurfacing and infrastructure upgrades
- Temporary water service changes for property owners along Chaleur Street
Local property owners affected have already received a detailed letter outlining the construction impacts.
Traffic Interruptions
Until November, there will be significant traffic disruptions along Chaleur Street. Expect:
- Lane closures and restricted access
- Temporary loss of vehicle access to certain properties (advance notice will be given to the property owners)
- Detours in place (please plan alternative routes)
We urge all drivers to exercise caution in the construction area and respect posted signage to ensure everyone’s safety.
Possible Water Aesthetic Changes
At the beginning of the project, water lines on Chaleur Street will have to be isolated. Because of this, some residents may notice changes in water appearance — such as discoloration or sediment.
Residents north of St Anne street, between the rail line and Youghall Drive, may notice these water aesthetic changes.
This is temporary and does not pose a health risk. If you notice discoloured water, run the cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears.
