The City of Bathurst and the Bathurst Professional Firefighters Association have ratified a new collective agreement. This agreement, which is retroactive to January 1, 2020 and expires on December 31, 2023, continues to reflect a balance between what was important to the Corporation and the Firefighters Association.

“We are pleased to have a renewed collective agreement with our firefighters. Once again, the negotiating process was fluid and cohesive, demonstrating a continued collaborative relationship between both parties. That is important to recognize and we thank the negotiating committee members for their work during this process”, said acting Mayor Lee Stever.

“As a new entity representing our firefighters, it was important for us to demonstrate our commitment to a teamwork approach with the City, where we can proceed with collaborative continued improvement in mind. The collective agreement shows that, and we’re happy with the process and outcome”, said Gregory west, Bathurst Professional Firefighters Association President.

The 4-year agreement includes wage increases of 2.5% in the first year and 2.0% over the next three years of the contract term, including adjustments to work schedules.
