City and K.C. Irving Regional Center employees ratify new collective agreement

The City of Bathurst and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4632, representing employees at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre, have ratified a new collective agreement.

“We are pleased to have a collective agreement in place with our staff at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. The positive collaboration between both parties was nothing short of exceptional, and that led to a productive and quick negotiation process, ratification and signing. We recognize this and thank the negotiating committee members for their commitment to positive results”, said Mayor Kim Chamberlain.

The four-year collective agreement includes wage increases of 1.6% per year over the contract term, with overall improvements to working conditions and health & safety equipment increases. The last collective agreement with Local 4632 had expired on December 31st, 2020.

“We value the collaborative relationship through the negotiating committee and, and it’s paid dividends with the quick process leading up to the signing this new collective agreement. This is something our members are committed to and we are happy with this new contract ratification”, said CUPE Local 4632 President David Harquail.
