POLICE - Body recovered in the Bathurst Harbour

On Monday June 1, 2020, the Bathurst Police Force recovered a body in the Bathurst Harbour, near the Veterans Bridge.

The police force received a call at approximately 5:00p.m., alerting them of the presence of a body in the Bathurst Basin waters near the Promenade Waterfront site. The Bathurst Fire Department was called in to assist in the recovery efforts with the use of its Zodiac.

The Bathurst Police Force confirms the identity of the body as being of Michael Francisco, 31 years-old, formerly of Tracadie. Francisco was reported missing on May 23rd.

An autopsy will be conducted today to eliminate foul play as cause of death.
