The K.C. Irving Regional Centre was first opened in 1995 and has hosted many great events, including NHL hockey, trade shows, major musical and cultural events. It is the sports and entertainment centre of the Chaleur region.

From 1998 to 2025, the centre was home to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The team brought glory to the city and region with two league championship titles (1999 and 2018). They also earned a Memorial Cup national championship in 2018.

As of the 2025-26, the Maritime Junior League's Chaleur Lightning now calls the K.C. Irving Regional Centre home, recreating instant rivalries with five other teams in the North division.

The Centre’s capacity on its main surface (Eddy Rink) is of 3524 spectators for on-ice events, including 24 private boxes at the mezzanine level. Capacity for cultural and musical events can reach 4400 spectators. A second ice surface (Richelieu Rink) can also be used as a multi-purpose space and for major hockey tournaments requiring a twin pad facility. Both ice surface dimensions are of National Hockey League (NHL) specification of 200 feet × 85 feet.

The design of the Center integrates the exhibition facilities and the sports / entertainment functions into a single multi-purpose complex. The building is also home to the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame.

The main entrance / concourse level includes a community learning centre, a senior’s room, ticket box office and office space, all adjacent to the main lobby. The building has full lounge and canteen facilities, as well as a popular walking track that surrounds the concourse level of the Eddy Rink.
