GENERAL OVERVIEW

Attention business owners! See our Advertising Opportunites at the KC Irving Regional Centre.

This beautiful modern facility was first opened in 1996 and has hosted many great events, including NHL hockey, trade shows, and country legend George Jones. The K.C. Irving Regional Centre is the leisure and entertainment centre of the Chaleur region of New Brunswick.

The Centre opened in September of 1996, at a cost of $21 million. Funding was provided from all three levels of government - municipal, provincial and federal. The contractor was Foulem Construction and the architect was Jacques Boucher.

The K.C. Irving Regional Centre is the home of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, a team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Centre provides 24 private boxes at the mezzanine level. These private boxes are located in equal numbers on both sides of the lounge and can accomodate approximately 150 persons.

The Centre has 12 full-time personnel and many part-time employees who work in the domain of the building's daily operations and special events.

The design of the Center integrates the exhibition facilities and the sports/entertainment functions into a singly multi-purpose building, which also serves as an efficient and functional twin pad arena. The building also shelters a Sports Hall of Fame to honour regional athletes who have achieved excellence in a sports discipline.

The Eddy Rink has 2902 permanent seats surrounding an 85 by 200 feet events area for arena-type events such as hockey. Approximately 1500 durable folding seats can be accommodated on the arena level to permit the holding of events such as concerts for up to 4400 spectators.

A second ice surface, the Richelieu Rink, of 85 by 200 feet, can also be used as a multi-purpose space and for major hockey tournaments requiring a twin pad facility.

In addition to the above, the Paul Ouellette Room on the rink level can accommodate up to 720 people. This room can be used in conjunction with both rinks or independently for any type of event. This room, along with the two rinks, gives an exhibit facility of approximately 4500 square meters.

The main entrance / concourse level includes a community learning centre, rest rooms, a seniors facility, ticket box office and office space, all adjacent to the main lobby. The building has full lounge and canteen facilities, as well as a popular walking track that surrounds the upper level of the Eddy Rink.
